More about Cape Town:

Located south of the African continent, Cape Town is a vibrant, cosmopolitan and elegant metropolis with many green spaces and wonderful landscapes. Not by chance that Cape Town is constantly present in several rankings of the most beautiful cities in the world. Table Mountain, one of the Seven Natural Wonders, dominates the landscape, giving unique charm to the region. In addition, dozens of beaches (one of them inhabited by penguins), the famous Cape of Good Hope, a beautiful natural park by the sea, make Cape Town a must stop for anyone considering traveling to South Africa.

Where to stay in Cape Town:

Cape Town is a very touristy city, so there is no shortage of accommodation options here, whether it's a five-star hotel or a simple hostel. Prices are reasonable and there are alternatives for all budgets. Among the best neighborhoods to stay is the Waterfront area, a safe place full of restaurants and cool shops. The neighborhoods of Sea Point and Green Point are good choices for those looking for the combination of good value for money and a beautiful view. If you want to stay close to the beaches of the city, we recommend looking for something in Camps Bay, and for those who is searching for nightlife bustle, the choice can only be the one: the inns, apartments and small hotels of the noisy Long Street that is located in the center of the city.

Getting around in Cape Town:

The public transportation in Cape Town is not very well developed and the distances between tourist spots are not short enough to walk. That said, the most recommended options are to rent a car, to use taxi/Uber or to see the city through the tourist line Cape Town Tours, which offers several itineraries and passes through the main attractions.

The famous red double-decker bus is the ideal alternative for those who want to see the main points of interest of the city with safety, fair price and without renting a car.
There are two lines (red and blue) and you can also use the audioguide available in several languages.

Price: ZAR 170.00   Convert to   = 0.00
The adult 1-day ticket costs ZAR 170 and ZAR 270 for two days. You can buy tickets on time or on the company's website at a discount.

In Cape Town, private taxis do not use the speedometer - the vast majority work at set prices, so when you take a taxi, always negotiate the value before getting into the car. Another advisable option is to use Uber, which works very well in the city and you can use it safely and comfortably.

Price: ZAR 220.00   Convert to   = 0.00
Approx. ZAR 220 per 20 km ride.

Renting a car is a great option for those who are looking for comfort and want to have autonomy to move around the city and its surroundings. The value of renting a car is reasonable, the streets and highways of the city are well signposted. Only remember that in the country is the left-hand traffic, which requires double attention.

Price: ZAR 750.00   Convert to   = 0.00
Credit cards are accepted. The price starts from ZAR 750 for rented car of economy class for 3 days.
Rikkis is another good alternative to get around the city, even more economical than taxis. Please be advised that this type of transportation is shared with other people.

Price: ZAR 220.00   Convert to   = 0.00
Approx. ZAR 220 per race from the airport to Waterfront.
Another interesting option is the public transport system called MyCiti, operated only by buses. The system is one of the legacies of the 2010 World Cup and major routes pass through the famous postcards like the V & A Waterfront, Table Mountain, Sea Point and the beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton.

Price: ZAR 90.00   Convert to   = 0.00
You need to purchase and charge the Myconnect Card that is sold at the airport, the tourist assistance center and other MyCiti kiosks. You can recharge your card at establishments that have the "Top Up Here" sign at the entrance. The average value is ZAR 90 per race from Airport to Waterfront.

Weather in Cape Town:

The geographical location of Cape Town is right in the middle of the airstream coming from Antarctica. This means that even on sunny and beautiful days, the winds (very common in spring) make the temperature vary between 4 °C and 12 °C in winter (between May and August) and 15 °C and 29 °C in summer (from December to March). So, regardless of the season, always wear a sweater. Avoid visiting the city in the winter between May and August when there is more rain and cloudy weather, which can disrupt the view of Table Mountain.
