Where to stay in Beijing:

The city of Beijing presents an excellent hotel offer, both in terms of variety and quality. When choosing your hotel in Beijing it is important to make the reservation in advance due to the high occupancy rates in most hotels. It is also good to take into account the location and accessibility to public transport, because in this city the distances are very large. As for the most recommended areas to stay, the best location is the environment of the Forbidden City, as well as some nearby attractions, it has a good shopping area and there are also subway stations that can take you to any part of the city. If you want to stay in a more picturesque area, we recommend the Hou Hai neighborhood, near the Forbidden City, where there are several budget hotels.

Getting around in Beijing:

Beijing is an immense city and fortunately it offers a well developed public transport network. They are subway and bus lines as well as taxis which are a convenient, safe and relatively inexpensive mode of transportation. For tourists, the best way to get around the city is to use subway that has large, clean and well signposted stations in Mandarin and English. Already buses can be a difficult means of transportation if you do not speak Chinese. Driving in Beijing is tricky and sometimes even a scary experience, with few English signs and constant traffic jams.

The Beijing subway system consists of 19 lines, and it is a very practical means of transport, with large, clean stations that are very well signposted in Mandarin and English. The trains are very modern because most of the network was built during the 21st century. The subway closes at midnight and begins to circulate again at 5:00 in the morning.

Registered taxis can be found throughout Beijing and are a convenient, safe and relatively cheap mode of transportation. Official taxis can be identified with signs starting with the letter "B". Due to communication problems that the Chinese language may cause, we recommend that you always have the name of your hotel or destination written in Chinese characters.

Cycling is a good alternative to getting around the city. There are more than 40,000 bikes available for rent at kiosks near subway stations, business districts, hotels and office buildings.
