Weekend in São Paulo: essential tips for first-time travellers

São Paulo, the largest Brazilian city, offers lots of attractions to be explored, especially on weekends. In this itinerary, we gathered the main sights of the city and taking advantage of the subway, it is possible to visit the Football Museum, stroll on Paulista Avenue, and visit the MASP, among other great attractions. On Saturday, start the day in the center of the city, near the Luz Station there is the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo. After the visit, take a walk to the Mercado Municipal and enjoy the gastronomic delights available at Mercadão. Then, as it is close, walk along 25 de Março Street. Head to São Bento Station, take the green line in the direction of Paulista Avenue, then get off at Trianon-Masp station, and visit the real postcards of the city, Av. Paulista and the Museum of Art of São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand (MASP) with its important and renowned works. If you wish, at the end of the afternoon, drop into the Vila Madalena, a bohemian neighborhood of the city.

On Sunday, enjoy the morning to visit the Football Museum located in Pacaembu Stadium, and during lunchtime go to Liberdade region to enjoy the oriental cuisine of the city. Spend the afternoon at Ibirapuera Park, there are several attractions including a planetarium, some exhibitions at Oca, as well as an opportunity to rent a bike and cycle through the park.
